Kohler Brings Alexa to Your Bathroom

January 11, 2018

The Kohler Company is bringing Alexa to the bathroom with their new Verdera Voice Lighted Mirror. The mirror is the center of the manufacturer’s new line of connected bathroom fixtures that can be controlled via Alexa voice commands or the Kohler Konnect app.

The built-in Alexa speaker is encased for protection from normal bathroom water use. Two front-facing microphones register your voice, while touch controls manually adjust speaker volume and mirror light levels. The mirror’s light comes from two LEDs mounted vertically on either side of the glass. The Verdera comes equipped with Alexa’s tens of thousands of skills, so you can listen to the morning news, check the weather or your emails – all the normal things you’d do with an Alexa without devoting valuable bathroom counter space for the device.

The mirror is but one of many smart bathroom features Kohler has been introducing. The effort comes from their in-house Kohler’s Smart Home Experience Lab in Kohler, Wisconsin.

The Verdera Voice Lighted Mirror will be 33 inches tall and available in widths of 24, 34 and 40 inches, and it’s slated for a March release. The pricing has yet to be announced, but the existing (voice-less) Verdera are already quite spendy, starting at $798.
