Online marketplace ShopRunner has launched a mobile-based internet marketplace called District.
District showcases items from about 140 retailers and features a dynamic real-time feed that presents shoppers with trending products tailored to each user based on past actions, as well as information shared with the app. Customers can explore “favorite” retailers within the app, which make up the users personalized shopping “district.”
District gets to know its users by asking a series of onboarding questions like “What department do you shop the most” and “How young are you,” before allowing the user to “Build their district” by selecting her favorite stores. District will use the information gained from the shopper to present them with curated selections from the app.
ShopRunner is primarily known for its two-day shipping service but believes District will stand out from other marketplaces because it already works with a number of high profile brands like Neiman Marcus, Burberry, and Harry & David. District will use the information gained from the shopper to present them with curated selections from the app. District gets to know your preferences over time to create a shopping experience tailored to you. It surfaces current and trending looks, along with unexpected recommendations to shake up your style.
Like ShopRunner, District offers shoppers free two-day shipping and free returns.
The launch of District comes on the heels of ShopRunners purchase of Spring, an online marketplace that features 1,500 brands and more than 200,000 SKUs.
