Target has rolled out their long-rumored mobile wallet, which will live inside its IOS and Android apps.
The service, called Wallet, allows customers to pay for items at Target by scanning their phones at checkout. According to Target, users can also keep their Cartwheel offers, weekly ad coupons and payment options all within the same app. But there’s a catch: If you want to use the Wallet feature, you must currently be a REDcard holder – which is the Target-branded credit or debit card. But don’t fret, non RedCard holders will eventually be able to use Wallet as well.
Target also stated that the app will eventually let customers store gift cards and redeem them from within the app.
Target is coming late to the mobile payments game, but rolling out Wallet just before the close of the holiday shopping season will give an added level of convenience to shoppers still out there finishing up their shopping lists.
