Retail giant Walmart has preordered 15 of the new Tesla Semis for testing. They join a list of other big companies in line to preorder the new electric trucks, including DHL, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, and grocery chain Meijer, which ordered 4.
The Semis are the new electric trucks recently unveiled by Tesla. The trucks have 4 independent motors, and goes from 0-60 in 5 seconds and have a range of 500 miles. The truck also features Tesla Armor Glass, and the driver console is centered in the vehicle for maximum visibility, not to the left like a standard American truck. The Semi is equipped with Autopilot features; Automatic lane keeping, Automatic emergency brake, and forward collision warning.
Telsa founder Elon Musk guarantees that the trucks won’t break down for a million miles, which will make for some very happy trucking operations managers. Musk has also stated that the truck will be 20% more efficient than a standard diesel fuel truck.
The Semi, scheduled for rollout in 2019, is Tesla’s next step to move the economy away from fossil fuels through electric cars, solar roofs, and power storage.
